Should I use a weightlifting belt to support my back when training?

Not unless you’re training for Powerlifting or Olympic lifting, in which you’ll probably use one in competition.

When you wear a belt to support your torso and lower back, then the muscles in your torso and lower back don’t need to take the strain any longer.

As you build up poundages on exercises that require that strength, you’ll then left with a weak link which will in turn leave you open to injury. And then you're looking at a gym lay off while you recover.

So no. Leave your belt at home.
