Should I be taking Leucine before and after my workouts?

A while ago it was found that increased Leucine levels can help stave off age induced muscle wastage in the elderly.

Not surprisingly, manufacturers leapt on the findings and have been marketing this 'wonder nutrient' to the unsuspecting public.

They've taken a good long running jump and landed on the conclusion that positive benefits for the elderly mean great effects for the rest of us.

If your muscles aren't wasting away, then surely the leucine sloshing around your system must instead increase muscle mass, right?

Unfortunately not. To date Leucine has only been shown to have a significant effect in fish and pregnant rats. And in the fish it wasn’t good news.

So unless you are a fish or a rat, save your money.
