It depends what you mean by ‘obvious’. If obvious involves drooling, groping or acting like an arse then yes that’s probably not a good way to meet people – unless your type is someone who goes for a drooling groper who acts like an arse.

The problem is many guys (and women) are told by mates, magazines and self help books that the best way to attract someone is to act like you’re just not interested. This causes more confusion in relationships than necessary mostly because if you act like you’re not bothered people will assume you aren’t interested.

Things like staring, unwanted touching, or inappropriate comments (such as a very sexual remark in the first few minutes of chat) might make you seem over eager.

Making conversation, laughing and smiling, listening to someone and enjoying being with them are all positive things to share without seeming too obvious.
