Commercial sites like Mansized depend on advertising revenue to invest in new technologies and content. Having said that, we don't want the ads to put you off ever visiting again. Here's our guidelines...
Advert types
We will never carry adverts that open in a popup window above the one you're viewing. A number of sites have banned them as they're too disruptive and we feel totally the same way.
From time to time you may see adverts floating around in the same window you've got open. These are called overlays and a lot of advertisers swear by them.
Turning them down completely would mean that we'd have far less money to spend on new content and site features, so here's our compromise...
We'll advise advertisers to switch to the large square in page ads or the letterbox formats that appear above the site's logo.
If the advertiser still wants to run these floating formats, we'll keep them capped so they don't show more than every couple of hours. We hope this doesn't annoy you too much - a floating ad every couple of hours is not much to ask to keep this site free of charge.
If you see this type of advert more often, you've probably got javascript and cookies turned off. Turn them on and you'll see a reasonable number of ads again.
If that doesn't work, something's broken. Email me at will@mansized.co.uk with the type of browser you're using and we'll get it fixed as soon as possible.
Sound and close buttons
We realise that many of you are accessing the site from work so ask all advertisers to only play sounds if you roll over the advert. If you don't roll over, you'll hear nothing.
Adverts should also carry clear close buttons. We ask that they appear top right of the advert and should usually carry the word 'close' and an 'x' icon.
Advert subjects
Mansized adheres to all Advertising Standard Authority guidelines in that products should be fit for purpose.
You won't be seeing any ads featuring grow it big creams, pills, potions and the like. We can't stand by them so we won't be running them.
