Hi,

Found site via Menshealth thread.
Going to give the weight loss challenge a shot.
Also, taking part in a study by physiotherapists which involves 6 weeks of activity starting tomorrow.

Current Stats
Height 6'2".
Weight 16st.

(In inches)
Shoulders 51
Arm 15
Chest 45
Waist 43
Hips 41
Thigh 25
Calves 17

Goals
Decrease bodyfat.
Retain muscle.
Lower blood pressure.
To get back to 14st.
To fit into a pair of 32" jeans.

Had fitness assessment for the study last Wednesday and apparently need to improve my post exercise BP which was 190/84.
Resting was 132/80.
RHR was 65.

Questions for Anthony

My 'Peak flow' was 565 & my grip strength was 120. What do these mean???

Really embarrased to put photo up. But I see it as a good motivational tool.

Hi Science Boy, welcome to the boards.

I think it is very brave of you to post a pic. Well done, it will be a useful reference point.

Make sure you keep us up to date here so we can encourage and cajole you to keep going! Don't be afraid to ask questions, although be aware that there are a mix of people posting here so some people are giving good advice and some people are spouting nonsense, even if something works for one person it may not work for you.

Good luck!

Update

Well off to a good start.

Training went well yesterday, I train in the morning at 7 so no bother waiting on equipment.
I have to admit I am tempted to drop the rep range down to around 6-8 rather than 8-10 but will stick with the plan.

Diets grand. The water is a great appetite suppressant.

Had a swim this morning. Love going for a swim but I am only gonna go once a week though, I don't want it to comprimise my weight training.

Looking forward to hitting the gym tomorrow.

Regarding your question about your peak flow reading, peak flow's a measurement of how well you can 'blow' air out of your lungs. It's used mainly for people with respiratory problems, such as asthma. It tells us whether their airways are obstructed as the lower the value, the worse shape they're in.
The reading also depends on your age, height and sex. Here's a site with a little more info for you...
