Got mine late yesterday afternoon with Resistance fall of man and an additional controller.... It really is a serious looking bit of kit and the on screen menu's etc are all very slick.
I also hired out the Kevin Costner film The Guardian on Blue Ray DVD to see what it was like, the game itself is great but I only played it for a short time as it was late, gonna have another go in a sec'... the blue ray disc was another story altogether... the quality onscreen is INCREDIBLE!!!! It would be hard to describe it really but.... once I went back to sky and normal TV everything looked dull.. it really did make that much of a difference. I have my sky set up as RGB and get good quality images but the difference to Blue Ray is massive.

Anyway I'm gonna go and see what I can do on this game.. I seem to be pretty crap must be out of practice!

In reply to the 'asks' on the chat post:

The game I have is Resistance Fall of Man which so far so good but I've only played it twice.. which the wife has pointed out although she expected me to be living on it which I won't, too old for that malarky! I'm going to pick up either Virtua Fighter 5 or Out Run today not sure which yet so I'll let you know later on... they're fucking steep though, bloody €75, that's a bit rich really so it better be worth it!!!!

The actual box itself is WELL cool all shiny silver and smoked black like plastic stuff and quite weighty too.. plenty of connections out as well. I had to get an extra optical lead for the audio to my amp and luckily I had a HDMI cable so connecting was fine. Although I had to prick around a while to get it actually working as my amp is about three years old and doesn't switch HDMI so I had to do a bit of fiddling but sorted it all in the end. The picture quality on the games at full HD is fucking spot on and the sound is cool through a digital sound system, which I'm lucky enough to have.

To be really honest whether this warrants the money I will have to wait and see, I got tax money back so it handy that I could get one..

If you have a good sound system and a big HD TV (again I'm lucky to have this) you can't go wrong really it has everything to compliment this kind of set up and really will shine when you play it to the full!!

I'll play more today and see what happens!

So, hows everyone enjoying their PS3's a few days on?

I've been like a kid in the proverbial candy shop the last few days! A shiny PS3, and every single launch title currently sat under my TV, and it's certainly a strong launch line-up.

Only thing it misses is an 'adult' game akin to Condemnded that launched with the Xbox 360.

Fortunately the journalistic lifestyle means it's fairly rare that I buy a game these days!

Ah, and I don't have Mobile Suit Gundam, or Tony Hawks. So only almost all!

They both look fairly shite anyway... so what is REALLY hot on the horizon then for this super fuckin duper bit of kit... I'm borderline picking up Ridge Racer on Friday?? Let us know what you think?

Ridge Racer 7 is well worth a go if arcadey racing's your bag. I'm loving it even more than RR6 on the 360.

As for games coming soon, there's both FEAR and Oblivion out in a few weeks (if you've not played the 360 versions) as well GRAW 2 and Rainbow Six: Vegas.

Sad thing is, there's never much on the horizon so soon after launch. Expect some goodies from the online store though soon enough.

Looks like it'll be Ridge Racer then as the arcade racers are my thing really, hate the bloody sim racers... boring!!

Gonna stick with VF5 for a good a while though till I'm show off good at it then hit the arcade maybe.

Online...mmmm, have ordered my wireless BB today so hope to be online in about a month. thanks God!

In terms of visuals, when do you reckon we'll start to see games taking full advantage of the PS3 hardware?
