Thankfully in between my Preys-World post and now, they simplified the template and allow you to save them so if you get some basic HTML to sort out fonts and tables you can recycle them for your next auction.
Before you list, do a search on your own item to see how many others have listed the same item around the same time, in this case I have one other person within 2hrs who's doing Buy It Now only, so I have room for the auction to not have people cancelling bids on me when they see a better price.
Who knows what the hell is going on. Not even I was prepared for 10 people watching an auction and bidding up to a tenner when there's still five days to go, but it just shows the power of being honest with the postage and of making sure that the layout, while basic, is readable and tells you everything you need to know.
I love ebay ~ got plenty to sell with 2 growing children! I love the buzz of watching the bidding price go up ! Almost anything sells but some buyers are timewasters and never pay up which is frustrating!
I've enjoyed selling on ebay but I recently had a bad experience as a buyer. I think I will get the item in the end but it has taken months and is still going on! It has put me off buying a bit. Buyers are in a more vulnerable position because they have to shell out first before the item is sent.
I sell on ebay and Amazon. The prob with Amazon is they take quite alot of commission and they seem to give you nothing to contribute posting (they set the amount not you)- e.g. i tried to sell an xbox and the buyer was able to select postage which cost £2.50! I now just use it sometimes to sell DVDs/books and small stuff.
Just sold 4items on ebay - a mobile, a hippo golf driver, a pair of diesel jeans (still tagged) and a signed Steven gerrard autobiography pocketed myself £237 so well chuffed - lets see whats in the loft tonight
Which reminds me - now that the plan for Postal Strike 3 is to disrupt the whole network for a fortnight from 25th July, instead of one day of non-delivery, I'm taking a fortnight off and since my Auction ends the Sunday night, I'm shipping this package Special Delivery whatever happens. Anyone with anything new to sell, best take a break and if you want Harry Potter, buy it from a shop if you don't want to be kept waiting around.
Wow, didn't realise I'd taken that long a break and was just buying from Ebay rather than selling. I'm about to sell my fourth item in the last fortnight and the new feedback system has come in, so as a seller I can't leave negative feedback.
Also, if you want a proper worldwide listing without having an American account, Ebay wants a monthly fee to provide you with a service that used to be free.
However, unconfirmed addresses on Paypal are the biggest headache, I just sent the item in the end and the hell with the protection policy. That person was from overseas, so the immediate effect in the short term, is the fact that I only feel like selling in the UK. Then I won't get any idiots pretending they can't read English.
I'm not blocking new members from bidding (yet) but I will leave them a message telling them to make sure their paypal address is confirmed and how to do it.
I'm just counting down to that magic 100 feedback, then I can change over to Playtrade if I've just had enough.
I was always a buyer on Ebay but last year I put a few things up for sale.... designer, all good and genuine stuff..... didn't get a sniff apart from a leather Karen Millen halterneck dress which I sold to a Taiwanese lady for £35. Cost me about £250 or summat. Also, by the time I forked out for the listings (I listed the non sellers for a 2nd week) I only made about £20.... for a £250 dress Ha! :o/
