I dont really think it is fair to disclude those who have not added to the prize fund from claiming- some may not be able to afford to pay extra, yet will feel under pressure to add the money. Is it fair if they win the league they cannot claim the prize? Money was not part of the original deal.

The £100 prize fund we put in can be won by anyone and the charity monies are safe, as Jim Bowen would say.

I think the concern was over the extra money people had put into the prize fund. If there's a problem we could hive this off and the winner of that group would get it. Or we could just leave it as is.

As I said, I don't care either way. There's no obligation to put cash in and no one's making this anything other than a friendly competition.

I see where you are coming from, and as I said I will contribute to the prize pot, but I worry the spirit of this is being taken away by the inclusion of money.

I just feel that just because some people added extra, it does not mean everyone else has to. I may be wrong, but I think many people have joined up to simply enjoy a bit of friendly competiton- I dont really like the idea of it being about money as such.

It just adds further complications- what if someone can only afford to throw £5 in the pot- does that mean they are entitled to less of the prize fund if they win?

A simple league, with a simple prize was the start. Now we have to negotiate prize funds and money distribution- I almost feel like a real manager!

It is free to enter, but the editor (Will) offered a £100 prize plus a donation to charity if he got a number of teams (which he now has)
Some people offered to increase the prize fund and the charity donation, but that has caused controversy.

ah now, it's not controversial ...

we can all win the original 100, anyone who wants to, can wager the extra 25 quid and win that pot too

ok ... it's a little like having a league within a league, but well, that's football

Yeah, like football's not all about money anyway!

Another suggestion

How about those who have promised, or would like to offer additional money to the prize fund and / or charity fund send Will a cheque.

Then we leave the distribution of the prize fund to Will - after all, he is the editor and the editor's decision should be final.

I'm sorry I suggested the whole damn thing now.
