This is a wee bit of a complicated issue to discuss. Liquidfits post really sums up the feelings of the guy involved. He chose to be a suicide bomber and in his eyes he will see himself of a martyr to the cause, thus keeping him alive proves to him that he was a failure. Nobody likes to live being a failure.
Letting him die in Pain?? Thats anger and vengence talking. And I agree that my initial thoughts were to tie the f*cker to post, let the weedgies set aboot him ( John Smeaton Style) then burn him like a witch.
Treating him in the hospital, clearly the intelligence services have a vested intrest in keeping him alive. But doesn't treating him show that we are compassionate and therefore better people than they can ever be??
Thats my tuppence worth.
* runs of to bang head on wall to clear too many thoughts*
I'm sad about any death and astonished, really, that anyone would suggest it would be appropriate to withhold treatment or pain relief as some sort of judgement on what this man did.
I can promise you that if he was anywhere near me he would get the same level of care and consideration as the next person. It's not the health professions responsibility to do anything but treat each person according to their health needs and expressed wishes where possible.

And that is the way it should be.
The health professionals should never be put in that situation.
I wasn't saying he should be left to die painfully. I'm just cross that there are many people who want to live and the resources aren't available to them, this man had chosen to die.
Regarding this issue, I have very conservative views.
If the bomber tried to kill people by carrying out what he belived was a just act, then he should get what's coming to him. The people he tried to kill were inncoent. This is what gets me angry to the point of fury with terrorism- the innocent people they attack have no power when it comes to the decision-making process of this country. The people at Glasgow airport did not deploy troops to Iraq, yet find themselves victims as they happened to be born on British soil.
It disgusts me.
The London bomb attacks also killed innocent victims. Whilst terrorism is as cowardly as it currently is, secret bomers attacking innocent victims, then those who carry out such attacks should die the painful death they deserve.
My cousin was in New York the day before 9/11. She is an air steward. She could have been killed. Why? Would she have deserved it? Of course not.
If, like someone has pointed out, cancer patients can be denied treatment, then so can terrorists who are a genuine threat to our safety.
I wont apologise for these views, regardless of how awful they may make me sound. If you are cowardly enough to kill innocent victims for a psuedo-just cause, then as far as I am concerned may you suffer the pain you deserve.
We are in uproar every day about child molestation. Think of it this way- a child who has been raped often escapes with its life.

Many terrorism victims dont.
I agree but at the same time.. what's the definition of "terrorism"? For all we know, the guy probably sees Iraq war, regular acts committed by Isreal, etc. as terrorism.
The whole thing digusts me and rash decisions made by our governments did not help the situation. As far as I am concerned, when we invaded Iraq, Tony Blair and George Bush are not much better than Saddam Hussien.
