Home Gym + 1st floor @ STE (and other engineers/builders)

Im thinkning of getting a home gym station for the new flat (if we buy it)

the only issue is the weight of the thing + the structural integrity...

should i be worried that it will be on a first (or possible 2nd) floor and not on the ground floor?

dont want the thing falling through the floor!!

what do the engineers/builders think?

Depends on the span and the weight of the equipment. Get a structural engineer in. They're not that expensive.

well we are getting a survey done as part of the morgage setup but dont know if they can check for that?

Depends on what kind of survey you get. If you're getting a structural engineer in anyway, they may look at it whilst doing the survey and the additional charge will be minimal. Getting one out for this will probably cost about £300 stand alone.

A homebuyers survey or valuation survey will not pick queries like this up.

Its been a while since I was involved in this area, but you may be able to make an educated guess after getting a few books out of the library and determining span and the make up of the floor. And if your equipment falls through the ceiling, I'll be able to help you insurance wise.
