Cate acts her stockings off, but this tale is as dumb as history gets. Click for our verdict, the trailer and tell us what you think.

This is a shame, i was gonna go see this sometime this week - don't think i'll bother now. Historical inaccuracy really winds me up!

I'll wait for the DVD. Cate Blanchett is so fit :-)

Cate plays a fine Elizabeth, however historically the film is all over the place! Everyone knows that Sir Francis Drake set sail from Plymouth and defeated the Armada, what was left was mostly sunk by bad weather off of the western coast of Ireland. Sir Walter Raleigh was off piliging the severn seas for more gold, I don't really think that his ship was used as a fire ship. Coming from near Tavistock in Devon I really feel that Sir Francis Drake is a forgotten hero in this film, his name is mentioned twice! Another example of Americans twisting the path of history.
