I'm a big fan of Ghost Recon (1 & 2) and Gears of War so was looking for a new shooter to ask for this Christmas. I thought my only choice was Halo 3 (and there's enough hype to make you believe it's the only game on sale this Christmas).

After reading this review, I checked out a video review of CoD4 - and it looks superb. To be honest, I was already wavering from asking for Halo 3 anyway (two of my friends bought it and both said they didn't enjoy it - not a patch on Gears - and it looks too cartoony with all the bright purple/green glows - I like my shooters dirty and war-torn).

Anyway, thanks Mansized - you've made my mind up for me now! This is a firm fixture at the top of the list...

I'm getting this on pay day! Although now I am tempted to buy a HD t.v. now!

I've been waiting for Will to give me one but I don't think that's going to happen!

I'm lucky that I've got everything I need for Hi-def gaming (honest, I can't list it again it feels like bragging). My wife is great in letting me spend so much on boy-toys.

However, buying games feels wrong so they normally go on Birthday/Christmas lists...

It's because you are a money grabbing contractor! ;-)

When we look at T.V.'s she always says "That's too big!"

As if you can have a T.V. that's too big! The bigger the better, I want it so I can't move in my front room for T.V.!

LOL!!! It's more likely because I work all the hours I can and we rarely go out...

I feel you! We've actually got a quite a small new living room but another 40" LCD in there. It does feel a bit cinema-esque but that's what I want it for ;-)

It's also actually quite nice that she can watch Sky in the new room (in all it's glory) and I can play 360 in the other room. Now, I just need to stop putting so many hours in to work so I can actually do it...

I've only played mutliplayer spiltscreen on COD4 on the 360, not had time to do anything else with it.

I just had a normal 21" old style tv for my 360

That's a good point (multiplayer)...

If I've got a 360 and a PS3 on the same internal network can I play multiplayer against each other?

Loving the review.

I'm getting this on pay day. I've been waiting for it for ages, but when it's released I'm too skint to buy it.
