I felt the story had no place in this billed action movie, more like castaway than anything else.

Sorry this is a bit late, guys. The review has been in place for a couple of weeks, but there have been some upload issues.
Especially in retrospect, I cannot believe what a missed opportunity this film was.

For a film out on Boxing Day, people who a) liked Will Smith or b) Had nothing else to do over Xmas after eating and shopping just went to catch it, just like I did because it was free on my cinema pass if I watched it before New Year.
Lost Castaway Of The Dead summed it up nicely but Smith's general performance of a man going slowly nuts probably wasn't in the book and that helped me like it, though the cinema cut was too damn short even with the Lost-style flashbacking. With any luck a directors' cut will redress this on DVD.
