My NHS dentist went private. 65 quid for a 10 minute check up. Robbing bastards.

Do you truly think that is expensive??

I actually meant to type £400.00 when in fact he final bill will be over £500.00 and thats before i get a cap put on it which will be another £200.00.

the quality of treatment you get in a private dentist is amazing though, no waiting around for ages, people knowing who you are and expecting you. At least in my limited experience.

Yeh i had a really good dentist he knew all about me, was very professional, and it was a pleasure to go. But at 65 quid a pop it's back to the NHS for me - i can just about afford 16 quid! It's pretty crap though, they don't even clean your teeth, just rush you in and out making sure all your teeth are still intact.

Well ya pays your money, ya takes your choice. I'm guessing the £65 was for a clean as well though, not just a checkup?? Still should take longer than ten minutes though, you're right.

Ahhh..I see....you can understand my confusion hehe

Are you having a root filling and crown done? That would explain the cost and is a lot more than just a mere filling.

I have gone to the same dentist since I was teeny, and my folks and grandma all go to him to, so he knows me, and my teeth well enough!

I think I nearly always have a scale and polish, and x-rays done too now, as I only go once every 9-10 months.

So you pay a couple of hundred quid extra so you don't have to wait around and you get called in by your name? Whoopy Do!

As much as I hate dentists, I had to join a private dentist last year to have an extraction. She's polish and quite fit I might add. Great proffesional service, certainly better than on the NHS.

Shame I had to remortgage my house to have an extraction and a filling though.
