Just watched the first episode of this Life On Mars follow-up. Really good stuff!

I don't remember detectives carrying machine guns in the eighties, but I'll give them that because Philip Glenister is so sexy.

(Keeley Hawkes looks great too and spent the entire first episode in lace-top stockings)

There are a load of factual inaccuracies with this series - the Audi quattro that they use deffo wasn't on sale in the UK, if it was even on sale in Germany at the time that the series is set.

Says the pedant.

I never caught Life on Mars season 2. Might rent it, season 1 was consistently enjoyable!

It's good fun if you are my kind of age and were a kid in the eighties. Some of the period detail is spot on. At one point DC Hunt throws a blue blanket over Keeley Hawes and it was the exact same blanket we had as kids!

I was concerned abuot a spin-off for Life on Mars, but I really did enjoy this show, great nostalgia trip for us 1970s/1980s kids.

Was that for court appearances?

I enjoyed it too but not as much as Series One of Life On Mars.....the cast was excellent and the direction was as slick as you like but I did wonder at times if it was sending itself up just a bit too much. Hope it doesn't disappear up its own ego.

Then you would have been too old to have enjoyed watching her last night.
