I've know that they work the chest, anterior delts and triceps, and oddly enough have been an integral part of prisoners workouts for years, but I was wondering if anyone else on Mansize integrate push-ups into there workout routines..

I'm currently doing 200 every other day using these bars..

I sometimes do a few before doing Muay Thai and other pad work, to warm up and get my wrists in line more than anythng. But 200?! Nicely done, I could maybe do 50 if I really pushed it these days.

Yes, I use push-ups in a number of ways: as an assistance exercise for my big lifts, as a strength endurance exercise or as a conditioning exercise (usually as part of a circuit).

At the moment I am doing push-ups mostly for assistance using rings which is pretty challenging (but great for the shoulders and tris!).

Can you elaborate about rings?

As in gymnastic rings. I've got a homemade pair but you can buy proper rings over the internet.

I've been using them for about a month now. I posted a video on youtube which contains push-ups amongst other things.

I might get some elite rings, I've been missing my weekly gymnastic sessions quite a lot

I'm just having trouble thinking where I could use the rings though, even in that video there doesn't really seem to be enough height

Parallettes give a greater range of motion than dumbbells and the weight plates won't get in the way (if you wanted to have the bars at right angles for a different grip).

Edit: nothing to stop you using dumbbells of course! You can also use bricks, breeze blocks, anything that raises your hands really.

Was thinking of starting a mansizers challenge that EVERYONE can get involved in and will help EVERYONES fitness level, and will actually compliment the Mr Mansized Challenge ..

The Mansized 10,000 Push Up Challlenge...

Will be interesting to see how long as a group it takes us to reach the magic number...

I'll start will my 200 today and then individuals can just keep adding their daily amount on until we get to 10,000

Anyone else game for a few press ups every day?

Here goes with my Friday tally...

0+200 = 200
