Having working in shops before, Id say there are two ways about it:

Ask them out, straight to her face, two people did it to me. Unless she is a complete tw*t she will take it as a compliment, even if she refuses.

Number 2: get to know her a bit better, strike up a chat with her on reception...something which means that the next time you talk to her it wont purely be about bank stuff. Ok at the end of the day you still have to ask her, but by that time in a couple of week you should be on first name terms..

...then as someone else said, bump into her outside work, or at the train station wherever...

Just ask her mate, don't worry about embarrssing your self, I do it daily and its never as bad as you think it is.

If I were you I'd draw a face on a peanut and put it on her desk just to get the ball rolling, it works everytime!
