Well, my long term game pre update got corrupt because i accidently turned the PC off while saving the game and i had deleted the rolling backups that day 'tidying up' the folder. I was gutted. Eleven seasons down the pan.

Started again. Went on holiday for one season, made sure Gateshead got promoted into Conf North. All there is, is a chairman. no money, no players, no staff etc.

Won league first season! took me three seasons last time.
Signed a great young defender and two great strikers (for this level).

Onward we march to Blue Sq. Premier and the prospect of getting into the Football League! I will try not to leave for the bright lights this time!

Is it wrong that I've started using mini-scout?

It lets you see hidden info that you can't normally see (in game) including Player Ability and Potential. I'm having loads more fun using it as I can build a cracking reserve team up of talented youngsters who will be world class in 5-6years If I train them well :-P

It's cool how you can tutor players on this game and teach them new preferred moves.

Half the fun is finding out you got rid of the wrong prospect. I enjoy the defeats and losing players etc just as much as i do winning, as long as it's realistic.

I'll admit that i have used similar to find out asking prices as it's just ridiculous when you're basically saying 'name your price'.

I suppose it's all about how you like to play & enjoy the game. The scouting system could be improved though.

I do always use my own tactics thought, I feel dirty using someone else's tactic.

I am finding 4-4-2 is shit in FM08

too many inconsistencies for me in the tactics. You end up trying to play the game rather than trying to play the way you would like to irl.

The way i try to play is kind of like how Liverpool are playing at the moment. Two holding midfielders. Try doing this in the game and you get humped.

There's an April fool in the game apparantly.

You get offered a cash injection of £500m and when you accept it says April Fools.

My mate got it but was managing QPR so it could have been real!

It's usually about November time if I remember correctly. I'll be buying as usually, I will love it and I will hate it :-)
