Thank you STE for your valuable and insightful reply. I think we are all greatly enlightened by your relevant contributions to this thread.

I hope you intend to stay on the forum for longer than just promoting your nmartial arts. If you are then you will soon learn to not take ste too seriously :)

Whilst i believe the martial art i have chosen is a good one, i didnt answer the question by saying you should do my martial art, I actually stated that the best one would be one that is close to the person, that had a good club vibe and that from watching a session, appeared to have a good and knowledgeable instructor. I also stated they should try attend as many as they could to get a feel before choosing one.

My artform is actually quite small and most clubs are in the midlands with the odd exceptions such as London and Newcastle. I included a link because most people wont have heard of Tetsudo and the website explains what the artform is about much better than i could articulate. My experience is limited to the martial art i have done for the last 14 years and so examples i may use will naturally be from this somewhat limited experience but i hope someone finds it useful.

The last post i made was in response to a direct question about videos for my artform from someone who seemed interested to know about the style. I trust i haven't broken any forum rules but if i have then i apologise and will seek somewhere else to share ideas and information about martial arts in general if that is the case.

It doesnt matter how much experience you gain in the martial arts, you can always learn something from other people whether they are the highest grade of master or a new beginner and regardless of which artform they choose to participate in. That is what led me to stumble upon this forum and if permitted, perhaps i will stick around for a while and see what develops here.

Hi,

a grappler will always beat a martial artist in a fight in my opinion if the grappler can lock him into a position.

Do you mean in a 'UFC - style vs style' match or a 'street fight'.

In a street fight, the last thing you want to do is take the fight to the ground - especially if your opponent has half a dozen of his mates hanging about!
