I think half marks come from the way scores are averaged out. This didn't come up in our testing so thanks for spotting it. I think we'll round up

Yep, you read my mind. This is the first step in my masterplan *evil laugh* but it needs folks to rate posts accurately, fairly and often for it to work. If this happens we can go to the next step

It's always been on posts not entire threads as some posts in a thread are great, so not so great

It was (and I'm assuming still is) the average rating of rated posts in the thread.
(Edit - it's been changed apparently, but I'm seeing a 4 star thread in latest posts, so maybe not)
