Hi all,
I don't come from a boxing background I come more from a martial arts background.
As most of you know the gloves in martial arts are a little different to boxing gloves.
I'm looking to get some boxing gloves so I can do more bag work. Any ideas about which ones to get?
Also should I get wraps to? What is the purpose behind these wraps? I've never worn them before always went with gloves only.
Cheers.

Just get some 16oz boxing gloves. You can get wraps if you want, it's just to support your wrist. Personally I wouldn't bother if you were just hitting the bag - if your wrists hurt from that you aren't keeping it in line and have a sloppy punch!

You need bag gloves and wraps, unless you wanna fuck your hands up.
I'd go for Everlast, but not the crappy fake crap you get over here, pay extra and get the American everlast, will be worth it.

What type of boxing will you be doing - just hitting the punch bag, using the speed-ball, actually boxing, etc?
If it just using the bag, then only need gloves.

Just start of with the gloves only and then as you progress, get the wraps and other equipment.
It probably is best is not too spend too much on gloves at the moment, just a decent pair.

Never heard of bag mits?
You don't need full on gloves and definately not wraps.

wraps keep your wrist in line with your forearm mate. They stop any potential injuries
