Each time I read that someone has had a 'blowout' with regard to losing the weight it seems they kick the living arse out of it.

Why?

If you are going out with the guys why not say you are having a blow out and have just a couple of pints and be happy you have gone outside the diet but you have enjoyed a treat rather than hammered the crap out of it?

Is it just me... my blow outs are having a beer, enjoying it then hitting the water. 2 glasses of red wine then stop... an extra ham sandwich... then doing extra work the next day and focussing harder for the few days afterwards until I have made up for it.

Maybe I am just a bit mad then!

Man, I have a friend who trains his ass off 5 days a week then gets hammered on Friday and Saturday and usually tops the night off with a take-away.

I always say to him about how much stronger and fitter he'd be if he didn't binge so much, but he "enjoys it" so, that makes it all good...

I don't understand the logic.

I'm not trying to lose weight as you all know but I aim to eat healthily 95% of the time. This is going to sound sad now probably but during bulking I will not touch drink, sweets or 'bad' food.

However, at the end of a few weeks or months of paying attention to diet and not drinking, I'll have a weekedn with mates and have a BIG blowout!

Maybe its easy for me though, because atm I am in my final year and most of my uni mates have finished and are all working so theres little chance of nights out but we generally meet up every month or so for weekends, which is when I have my weekends off and go alittle crazy! :-P

I always plan ahead so I know that this week speed dating will most likely be a bit of an off day, so I'll not gym around then and cut back off bulking cals and enjoy myself. After that the next planned time off will be summer drinkies and then a hol with mates the weekend after.

Maybe sad but effective! :-)

I suppose it depends on what are your goals, and how seriously you take it.

I've had a couple of fairly big meals out this weekend (no alcohol), but I'll be back to the healthy options this week, so no big deal.

Like Predator, I see guys who train hard Monday to Friday and then hit the pubs and clubs big time at the weekend - coming in and nursing hangovers in the sauna.

I have done my fair share of binge drinking in the past, but I can't see the point in doing all that hard work in the gym to negate its effects in my liver every weekend.

Because I shouldnt have a blowout when im trying to lose the lard. Its more of a lifestyle change for me so reverting to the old norm isnt something I want to do. When it happens I regret it and its better to log it here and put it down to a bad day and then concentrate on what I want to achieve. Very rarely do I feel the need to revert from my plan- its just big when I do.

Some of us have absolutely zero willpower and/or '24 hour party people' reputations with their mates!

I just posted about this in my DD log, as am feeling extremely guilty about this weekend :(

It's good that you're feeling guilty, rather than just thinking that it is something you can get away with once a week or so.

As Barcode says, work extra hard this week in the gym and on the diet and you'll overcome the negative effects.

you say this now. But you must've have done this in the past when not trying to loose weight,.. otherwise you wouldn't have excess weight to loose?
