You ask in the thread how people feel.

Well, I am angry, very angry...with myself.

I have lost 7 lbs tops in 4 weeks.

And that's pathetic.

Last week I lost 0lb.

And yet I tried and tried. I even weighed myself mid-week and had lost 3 lbs. But then I went on a long car trip. In the evening I went down the pub. I worked it out that one day I had an extra 1500 calories (7 pts of beer) and yet bang! up goes the weight gain.

Why does it all go back on so quickly? It suggests my weight 'loss' is artificial. That one Xmas dinner and it will all go back. Never mind the hours and hours in the gym (i.e. 4 weeks worth).

My waist seems smaller but if I go and drink a litre of water now it will bloat. My ankles swell far too easily too.

So I haven't posted results as there aren't any. I am going to post some pics - but I doubt if there'll be any change.

The only plus is I can do more press-ups, lift more, run faster and longer, row faster, do more assisted chin-ups with a lighter weight.

This is not a rant at anyone here I am just angry with me.

Tom, I put weight on quickly especially when I have a week off.
I dont know if this is down to carb loading , which I believe is glycogen being replaced in your muscles or dehydration (your body clings onto water if its not getting enough) or whatever reason. This doesnt mean your weight loss is artifical as such. But, what it might mean, is that your "Normal" eating habits are way over your bodies requirements, hence how we are over weight in the firs place. Weight fluctuates too, so it isnt a science.
A bad day, a bad week can easily be overcome by 56 days doing well (about the number of days left). Dont look at what you havent achieved, but what you can achieve going forward. Rome wasnt built in a day, and it certaintly wont be knocked down in one.

Second fortnightly update (2/6).

Apologies for the lateness of the update. I have been really busy with work, and have just managed to squeeze it in tonight. Look at the time ! :'(
I think people are starting to drop out now, and people are starting to slack.
We are 1/3 of the way through already and only 8 weeks left. 8 Weeks is nothing compared to the rest of your life. Lets all try and nail the diet and the gym for the next 8 weeks. Even until the next update (in 2 weeks) if you find that easier to manage. I can already see some people stretching out ahead, come on people!

Gprim - Goal - lose 20kg get some 34" trousers on.

Has been doing stonkingly well over the past 2 weeks, resisting all kinds of temptation and working hard in the gym….. until a small slip up! Its fine though, one slip up isn’t going to do that much damage, get back into it.

Jimmie - Goal - Set of one Dirty Dozen bodyweight chins, all the way down and up , 2 sets of Dirty Dozen Dumbell Chest Presses @ 30kg with good form,1 set
of Dirty Dozen 140kg parallel barbell squats. 15% BF goal.

Working hard in the gym, but his weight has been stuck for a while.
Going to consult shuts to see what he can do.
Keep it up Jim, the lard will move again if you keep at it.

Johnny BB - Goal - 3-5% Bodyfat loss

Johnny is working hard in the gym, and is eating well as usual.
Has been considering starting a bulk but is going to carry on with the fat loss for a bit longer.
Has posted some pics , and is looking pretty good.

In his words (thanks) didn’t see this until I read through!

Week 3 starts on page 9

Weight Loss: 4 lbs (6lbs in total)
BF Loss: 1.3%

Workouts & diet have been fine. Been upping the effort levels.

Have posted frontal pics

The Abdominal skinfold has been 25mm for the last few weeks, hoping to make a dent in it over the next 3 weeks as it's proving stubborn & getting on my nerves.

Will weigh in for week 4 on Monday morning

Have purchased toasty bags from Wilko's -£1.99 bargain, can now make ham & cheese toasties at work for lunch

ETA: Also forgot, went on the beers over Bank Holiday weekend & ate some junk :S

KT - Goal - lose body fat, have a better body shape by adding muscle

No updates…

Lardass- Goal - Would love to get into the 16st but that would mean losing
2st 11lb. Probably a bit tough, but I will set the bar high.

Missed quite a few gym sessions due to a bout of headaches, gym closing bank holiday Monday and moving my schedule around Mr Anthony. (Feels like it was worth 10 of my workouts though, so not all bad). Had a planned night out last Friday. Diet going 90% well. Didn’t have an official weigh in due to Anthonys visit, will do it next weekend. Going to pay particular attention to form/effort going forward.

Little Piggy - Goal - Lose 7lbs and fit into size 10 jeans

Lost the weight she added on the hen night, but no loss in the last stats update.
Has had a bereavement so our thoughts are with her.
Keep it up, not long till your big day!

Matt O - Goal - Lose 8lbs of lard, whilst ensuring lean mass is the same.

After drinking lots of alcohol and eating lots of chocolate he is 2lbs of muscle up!
Has been a bit demotivated lately.
In his words….

I'm lazy, I've been drinking beer and eating muffins. I've not been the gym. But atleast I am updating my thread about it unlike some :) This week will put an end to that. I do look leaner than at the start though.

oscarricher- Goal - Bulk to 62kg, get into healthy BMI

Had his biggest breakfast EVER followed by is biggest eating day ever!! Nice one osc!
Has added 1-2 kg + in the last couple of weeks, which is great work.
Still getting to the gym and working hard.

PGE - Goal - 1)be able to do 5 negative chinups
2)5negative dips
3) 15kg shoulder press.

In her words…
I’ve lost the weight I gained at the beginning of the challenge so that’s back on track. The negative chins and dips are progressing slowly but surely, but I still haven’t tried for a full unassisted chin. Will try in the next week or so. The shoulder press is still kicking my ass, so not sure I’m going to achieve that goal!

Phoenix - Goal - Aim is after 12 weeks to reach at least 2 out of 3 goals : to be able to bench press with 30kg dbells, squat with 40kg dbells , do 3 sets of 10 chinups.

Has been hitting the gym, been busy with work and reading books!
Has got to the gym even though on some occasions he didn’t want to.

In his words…

Missed 2 out of 6 sessions due to MS drinkies and gym closing over bank hols, but am back on track. Have eaten far too much ice cream and burgers and chips (not all together!) and must keep eye on that.

Squats - Progress has started to slow down but still getting good improvements. Now squatting with 2x26kg dumbells.

Bench press - making very slow progress but its getting there! Ready to move onto 2x24kg dbells.

Chinups - stalled. not making any progress.

Pip - Goal - Gain 8lbs get to 14 st 7 lbs

Been doing lots of “carb loading” the weekend before last.
Not many workout updates, come on pip!
Has started a new routine courtesy of shuts. In his words…

it is week 4 isn't it?

I'm currently waiting for a new routine from shuts so I had a play around today seeing how heavy I could go on a few things, with the focus on deadlifts and bench press.

My initial goal was to get to 130kg, 95kg, 75kg all for 5 reps minimum by the end of 12 weeks, but I amended the bench target to 80kgx5.

At the start my bests were 120kg x 3, 90kg x5, 70kg x 6

Today I did:

Deadlifts: 68x5, 88x5, 108x5, 118x5, 123x3, 125.5x3, 128x2, 130.5x2
Bench press: 48x5, 58x5, 68x5, 73x3, 75.5x3, 78x2, 80.5x1

So i need 3 more reps on the deadlift and 4 more on the bench press to reach my goal.

Don't ask about my squat!

PJ - Goal - 1.To lose 6 pounds fat.
2.Increase bicep / tricep strength – this will be monitored by measuring arms and recording kilos curled.
3.Achieve a good form 4/4 Chin Up and Pull-Up
4. Follow the timings / reps of my routines better and train consistently twice a week.
5. To stay ON PLAN for 12 weeks without getting side tracked by trying to jog the last bit of cartilage from my knees or rip calf muscles.

Has upped her calories to 1300 which is nice compared to 1100.
Has been suffering with an ailment, but she is back in action.
She has a good routine and is working hard at it, at home.

Proplus - Goal - lose 25lbs of lard

He is drinking more water than a whale and been working extremely hard in the gym.
Diet is spot on too fantastic progress so far. Congrats. In his words..

Ok, to begin, the diet's been going very well. I've not cheated once though perhaps my biggest criticism is that I've not been eating enough veg! I have a decent bit of spinach on my sandwiches but it's difficult to eat veg when I'm constantly on the go! I'm starting to prepare salads now and taking them with me to help overcome this. I've been eating plenty of fruit but want more veggies!
With the water, I'm pretty sure I'm drinking enough! I'm getting through 6-7 litres a day, of which at least 5 is iced. Seeing as I was only drinking about 2.5 litres at first, I'm pretty pleased with this.
In the gym I seem to have plateaued a little but I'm still working hard and am introducing two new exercises next week (if I can fit them in to my limited gym time). I've had a few bad sessions but a few brilliant ones too so am happy with that also.
So, down to the nitty gritty, the results! I can't get onto the Perfect Waistline site (keeps saying the server's not responding) so I'll just post my weight and measurements below,

Week 1

Weight 237.6lbs
Neck 39.7cm
Waist 110.1cm

Week 4

Weight 223.8lbs -13.8lbs
Neck 39.2cm -0.5cm
Waist 104cm -6.1cm

Richy - Goal - Try to get back the weight he
used to be (71 kg in clothes). But, at this rate he will have a different goal soon ;-)

In his words…
Goals;

- Get back upto the weight I used to be (71kg with clothes); currently 68.8kg.
- Build up my squat weight (for rehab); aiming to reach failure with good form on squats at some stage in the challenge.
- Stay at or below 8.7% BF

Currently.....

- Weight was around 68.4kg on monday. Shall weigh in again tommorow and mon.
- Squat weight is slowly increasing but still low. Ant has me squatting at about an intensity of 3-7 / 10 (with 10/10 being complete failure so currently using 12kg dumbbells on the heaviest set. Will slowly increas that over the coming weeks when I feel ready.
- BF still 8.5%

Had a few injuries since the start and had a couple weekends out, so I've only just got my first week of training in. Currently 0.8lbs muscle down and 0.1lbs fat dwon from my starting stats.

Workout wise I am following a program sdesigned for me by Ant; with 2 upper body to failure workouts focussing on back strength and 2 NTF lower body workouts focussing on form and rehab every week.

I've had a fair few problems (due to my shoulder taking a disliking) with some of the exercise on the back focus routine; any overhand or wide grip row, pullups or downs so have had to considertablyy change the routines. Now mainly doing cable work as machines felt uncomfortable on a couple exercises.

Hopefuly thats the end of my toubles and I can start making some progress.

Science Boy - Goal - Doing the last 6 weeks, hopes to lose a stone.

Isnt joining until the last 6 weeks.

Sharksbite - Goal - lose 5kg and improve core strength.

Still posting gym sessions, although missed one with going to Prague.
Has posted a recipe too!
In his words…
Weight stable at 101kg, hasnt shifted for a week. Starting weight was 103kg. Happy with that though as my shape is changing. The interesting measurement for losing 7cm off my chest fom the start. Def more definition on chest/shoulders/back so i figure my chest and back was where I was carying some weight. Have cut back on booze now. Well except for last week when i was away. And probably this week when I am in Berlin :-) but apart from that.......

shutupacut - Goal - Dropping 3% bodyfat, whilst maintaing weight at 80kg.

Week 3 spent testing his bodies ability to withstand lack of sleep, too much alchol and food!
However he seems to be back in the zone at least with his gym sessions.
Keep it up shuts.

STE - Goal - add 12lbs muscle and only 1-2lbs of fat!

Joined a new gym.
Has posted some workouts, and a picture.
Richy thinks his pecs are looking bigger, and his belly is looking the same.
Good stuff STE, keep it up.

Stu - Goal - Would like to lose 20lbs, subject to Anthonys approval

Been busy at work, eating kind of well but weight not moving much.
Maybe you need to change things around, get strict on the diet and hit the gym 3 times a week every week?

Tiberius - Goal is get below 200lbs. Note link will need to change when the training log is moved.

Working hard on the testosterone advantage plan, seems to be eating really well (unless there is something your not telling us!?). However weigh in same as last time, but still showing around 5lbs down from the start.

Tomfrench - Goal to lose 32 lbs

Is doing quite a bit of cardio, not posting much on exercises/weights.
Not much updates in week 4. Is trying to reduce the number of calories he is eating, and is cutting them down but is eating on the road a lot.

Willy Boy - Goal - get to 14.5 stone , lose around 1.5 stone.

Been busy at work , diet has been suffering, but getting to the gym while he can.
He is trying to find time to get back into it, but is “treading water” for now.
Good luck mate.
