Denying any treats is so sad IMO. I don't see the harm in it - you can balance it out easy enough. What's the point of sitting at home miserable with a six pack if you never socialised or saw any of your friends? Personally, the gym and eating right are just part of my life - not the be all and end all.

I do not disagree.... my point was that some people have a blow out and go mental... as much beer and bad food as they can shovel in. A treat doesn't have to mean a ravinous feeding frenzy like the locusts have come to town.

I think it really depends on what stage your body is at, what your goal is and how your body reacts to it.

If you are seriously overweight and are trying to lose it, then big blowouts are completely counter productive and you are just going to go in circles. You need to be honest with yourself. Dan says he has a friend who has a fantastic body but not so strict diet . Fine - it works for him. But if it doesn't work for you, then you need to realise that.

Ultimately it depends on how much your goal matters to you. If it's just a vanity project - get bigger muscles etc - and you don't mind if it takes twice as long, then do as you wish! If you are really miserable about your body appearance, then binge eat, you are just going to be going in a vicious cycle!

For me it's been about a change in lifestyle.

If I had regular 'blow outs' and my treats involved eating what I used to eat, I'd go back to 150lbs!

I don't want that.

Good post Phoe, I rated you :)

This weekend I had an Indian, a Chinese, a Kentucky and a mcdonalds and loads of beer and a box of chocs, oh and an ice cream. I blame the hot weather.

Although through the week I don't eat much crap.

Having a bit of a belly is cool, don't get hung up about it I say. :-)

Bloody hell. I might have one takeaway a weekend, and perhaps one meal out but that's it.

That makes Barcode's 'cheat' ham sandwich pale into comparison!

*thinks about STE's arteries*
