Excellent book, worth the £12 easily

Also check out your local charity shops - I found a copy of Anita Bean 'Strength Training' there for 99p on Saturday

Best for me is still the Second Edition of 'Strength Training Anatomy' by Frederic Delavier.

A snip at £12 too.

How does it overlap/complement the McRobert book?
Where can you get it for 12?

Thanks!

The McRobert book focusses on a smaller choice of specific lifts, and goes into great, great detail about each one. Pages worth.

As I think someone mentioned earlier in the thread, form is everything if you don't want to get injured, and McRobert's book focuses on lifts that require alot more technical attention, particularly as the weights go up.

Delavier's book covers alot more lifts, and goes into detail about the muscles used too.

I'd say that both compliment each other rather than stand on each other's toes.

It depends which book you are talking about, mate.

I would seriously just go for the Delavier - it is not biased towards a particular training protocol. You asked for a book that explains form and is easy to use - the Delavier does both of those. It explains basic anatomy and is very clear.

For the price it is awesome value for money - £11.50, and will be the best you will spend for now. It will give you inspiration for when you are at the point whereby you can build your own workouts.
