That'll be a major part of it. It's irresponsible neglect. Care companies can face massive fines and lose contracts if basic safety checks aren't adhered to.

But no Health and Safety prosecution yet for failing to control MRSA etc

And when the place burns down, where will the checklists be ? Burned to a crisp, along with the staff training and maintenance records.

On the central server if you live in the 21st Century.

Which is why there tends to be offsite backup, I thought.

Bad IT then! Should have had remote backups taking place, you never have both servers on the one site, or no DR plans exist.

That'll be part of it I expect.

Yep, you can ignore the plight of your client, but woe betide you if the boxes aren't ticked

Yeah, and if there's a fire and the extinguishers don't work, the fire exits are jammed and the emergency lighting fails I suppose that's ok too, is it?

But it wouldn't burn down if the checks had been done, would it? She was neglectful. I've worked under managers like that and they're useless. Not only do they put residents' lives at risk but also the jobs and security of those who work with them. Besides which, how is her doing out of hours work stopping her from making the home safe for residents?
Claudio's right though. With an increase in life expectancy and an increase in living dependency, the social care issue is a very serious yet neglected one.

Offsite backup of essential financial and customer records. Not a copy of a clipboard of checklists

My former employers' warehouse !

MRSA? As in NHS hospitals? As in not private care companies regulated by CSCI?

Well, the fact that the organisation had identified that she had not recorded checks (which I suspects translates as "says she hadn't written it down but possibly hadn't actually done them") means that they were checking and not simply filing stuff. So, somebody was doing their job.

I'm not quite sure of the logic there !

The residents may well have escaped without injury, but the building may well still have burned to the ground.

I don't get paid enough to fight fires - do your staff ?
