Summer is nearly here and Natalie will be 3 months on Sunday.
Any suggestions for a holiday destination for new parents and a breastfeeding 3 month old?
Mrs J. says she doesn't need a holiday as she gets worshipped when she is at her parents. But I think I need a holiday what with work and making sure everything is ok at home.
Somewhere not too hot, busy or sunny, as it will only stress you all out.
If you wife is happy near her folks, what about somewhere near to them? You could hire cottage/book in nice hotel for a few days, so it would be a nice break away from home, but not too far from what feels familiar...
Lots of my friends with new babies have been to Centre Parcs. You can hire a chalet (and even take the in-laws along if you want). It's self catering but there's lots of places to eat on site, Mrs J can get pampered there if she wants, and there's loads of activities to do - including a heated pool that the little one might enjoy.
Off peak it's not too expensive (if you go midweek) - and they often offer discounts too.
I have two children, now grown up (but still at home). For the last twenty years, we holidayed in our own static caravan in West Wales, where we enjoyed beach holidays, sunshine and rain. It is also used by family, although as we are on a small family run site, we cannot let out the van as they do on the big commercial sites.
The children now use the van with their own friends, and my cousins have recently bought a van on the same site.
For the price of a two week holiday abroad, the van is available for our use from March until January - we were there on Boxing Day last year. We'll be there this weekend, with or without the children, and have our own 'secret' beach that we'll probably have to ourselves most of the day.
It is only since the children have been old enough to leave on their own that we have had exotic holidays abroad.
Our criteria for holidays abroad are fairly simple
Hot and sunny
Daytime flights there and back from local airport (10 mins from home).
Lots of suggestions thanks.
A few people at work own statics, they seem popoular down here - I think they mostly go to Clacton and surrounding areas
Centre Parcs - we been there before and we liked it. We even took my disabled Mum. We went for a bike ride with her in her disability scooter through the woods. Somehow she managed to tip it and she got snagged between the scooter and a tree stump, my wife and I nearly cacked ourselves when we saw her topple but afterwards we could see the funny side....my mum the stunt driver...only my mum could stack a disabled scooter! Anyway, centre parcs is an option.
Somewhere near the in-laws isn't a terrible idea. Don't get me wrong, my in-laws are great, very kind to me and have helped no-ends with my mum but I do find it hard to really relax around them...more my issue than theirs.
As posted above, I'd like somewhere hot but not too hot. But I think I'm also being unrealistic, maybe something more simple is more achievable?

That is such a funny tale, but your hearts must have been in your mouth when it happened!!!
