My wife was on incapacity benefit for 3 months and was told to attend an assessment - basically to make sure that she wasnt scamming.
After a 20 question questionnaire and a 10 minute conversation, the doctor decided that she wasnt entitled to the benefit. This is despite my wife being under 4 separate consultants - none of which were asked for their opinions on my wifes condition.
This is why it is so maddening to see people claiming "sore back" and still being able to go out and work on the side.
