i hate ebay now, put my car on their twice, both winners didn't buy the car, and the ebay fees are ridiculous. 7.5% of what you sell it for, and around £7-13 to list it.

Next time I think I'll use autotrader or gumtree to sell my car.

and why the fuck can't i give people negative feedback!? But it's ok to give me bad feedback even if they don't buy anything!

Hopefully you reported them both as non-paying bidders to get your fees back, though that takes a while.

In my case I'm coming to the end of my Spring "batch" so to speak, the last item I put up for sale has one watcher after a day so there should be enough people to make it shift accordingly next week. When I put up an old game for sale which is now rare (Hitman Blood Money on its own for the PC), I think that's going to be the last one for a while.

Anything else I might think of selling, it would result in downgrading one of my CPUs to something slower, there's no point putting yourself at a disadvantage just to keep the sales turning over.

Sorting out my first return ever on Ebay and I'm lucky that I had already been left positive feedback before the buyer had an issue with the item. I'll still refund it, and will take it as a warning sign, no selling there again for a while. It's all too easy to kill a 100% FB record on there now.

ebay is now overrated and too expensive. I sold my sofa via gumtree for £200 with zero fee and no hassle.

Also ebay has recently become a lot more crowded with full-time traders and small businesses.

Agreed, I sorted out an agreed refund on Ebay dating back to around the time of my last post, today.

Previously, I had only ever withdrawn all my Paypal funds to my bank account and then made separate and complete payments backed up by credit card. This last time, I wanted to use my funds actually in my Paypal account and then only have the difference of a tenner going to my plastic.

For this, I was charged £1 on a UK to UK transaction for the very first time in the seven years I've had a Paypal account. If the recipient withdrew it as it's under £50, they'll charge their customary 25p and who knows they might have the temerity to charge another fee just for accepting my payment - on which I've paid a charge.

The only upside is that I'm happily selling other stuff elsewhere now so I can factor in whether people want to pay by paypal and cover all fees and there's not a damn thing eBay can say or do about it. Should I ever need to use Paypal again I'll stick to my usual system, but the opportunism of their charges minefield is just tiresome now.
