I know it is awful, but part of me does wonder how many were being stabbed each day/week/month before the media picked up on it being the latest 'craze'.

The courts in Glasgow managed to virtually eliminate the knife culture there in the sixtes and seventies.

15-20 years in Barlinnie prison did the trick

But our prisons are overcrowded already, and people come out of jail more hopeless, embittered and violent and withdrawn from civil society than when they went in.

Interestingly, the majority of victims and offenders are black.

Which ever way you look at that fact, it is something to really consider.
