David Villa was the first player he tried to sign as Liverpool manager.
The issue with DV may be that Valencia will not sell him this summer, which would explain why Keane is being targeted. However, with the poor season the poor season they had and their financial situation, one would have thought the sale of DV would help with clearing the debt.
Personally, I would like to see the Barry situation sorted out rather then see the signing of a new striker.
