Authors Greg and Amiira Ruotola-Behrendt are claiming in their new book (It's Just A Date!) that you should wait at least ten dates before you sleep with someone. They reason if you do this a guy stays interested in a woman after they sleep together and there's a better chance of having a long term relationship.
Do you think that's a good idea?
How long would you usually wait?

I think it's worth waiting if you like someone. 10 dates is a bit prescriptive though! For me personally I'd say 5 or 6.
From a woman's point of view you know then he's interested enough in your personality to wait and get to know you.

5-6 is the American average, but 10? It would be fair to warn that other person first, cards on the table like.
Either that or just make the dates twice weekly...

I don't think you can apply rules and principles to these things. It is a case of feeling what is appropriate.
I used to joke with an ex about it as we shared a bed for a few weeks before we finally did (it was a running joke saying to one another 'why won't you put out?').
Personally I think a few weeks (unless you have only been out once or twice in that time). I reckon you should have slept in the same bed a few times together before you do.

Good idea for possible long term relationships, but the number is arbritary. It's like the third date rule, a woman should always make it longer than this to make sure the guy is not just hanging around til he gets some.

Really?? Like some kind of test??
If I sleep in the same bed with someone I fancy then I'm not going to behave myself!

Jock is obviously more of a gentleman than you are used to

How about these 'experts' shove their rules up their arse and stop talking such bullshit?
You can't be an expert on dating anyway.
Why can't people just get together and if it works, it works. If it doesn't it doesn't. Move on and find somebody else?

If I was in bed with a man who I was seeing and he didn't try it on I'd be very concerned.
No woman over 18 falls for "We won't do anything I promise, we'll just cuddle"
