If you make yourself a drink at work, do you offer your colleagues one?
Our new temp secretary keeps making herself drinks without offering us one depsite us offering her one everytime we make one.
Stupid bitch.

Its like rounds in a pub.
I'll only make tea/coffee for the people I know would make me one.

I think everyone should have a turn in the round. Maybe because she is new she doesn't know how it works. Ask her to join your round.
We play dice to see who has to take the cups up too.

We take turns - and sometimes if you offer, people will say it is their turn and take the job over.
But there are people in other teams who do not fill the kettle . I'm agaisnt hanging, but I'd bring it back for that!

Haven't we had this rant before? Beads I think?
Some people make their own tea from the kettle, some buy it from the machine. No one here makes it for anyone else.
Stop making it for her then, and pointedly ask everyone EXCEPT her next time you make a cuppa - she will get the message.

we're a really small office and traditionally everyone has always made for everyone else.
I understand being new could be an excuse but we make a point of offering her a drink immediately after she's made her own but she still isn't taking the hint!
i might jizz in her mug.

although i second what dutch says, if these quirky little customs are not made clear, it can lead to feelings of exclusion

Whenever I do staff inductions, I always explain the workings of tea/coffee - who pays, who buys, who makes, who washes up etc, so there is never any doubt.

surely it's just polite to offer..... and being the secretary, making drinks is practically her job anyway!

I agree. Someone needs to say, 'we make tea in rounds, everyone takes a turn'.
Because she's a temp probably nobody bothered.
