I remember them saying that it was a 'power surge'.
Yes I remember that, and wondering how a power surge could occur on a bus as well :S
We had a group email thing for when we left uni but no one used it to keep in touch. After 7/7 there was a flurry of emails, making sure everyone was ok. Two months later we got one from a girl in China whom we hadn't bothered keeping in touch with. She said she had only just heard about the attacks as she was cut off from news deep in China helping to breed pandas!
Di - waking up late on a Sunday, while everyone was out; hoping to watch Liverpool vs Newcastle on Sky Sports and trying to figure why it had been cancelled; until I changed to Sky News
9/11 - in Liverpool to watch Liverpool's first CL game (against Boavista) & celebrate birthday
7/7 - having breakfast before going to the gym
25/7 - at the uni gym and for all you cardio-haters, on the treadmill at the time
I'll always remember Boxing Day morning for the tsunami in Thailand ( and elsewhere obviously) because my uncle lives there. He didn't hear about it for several days either.
For 7/7 I was at work, and the store manager called the management team together to inform us on an 'incident' in London. For the rest of the day we had an hourly email update of what was going on. Very patchy at first with info, and the lack of which made it all a bit more scarey.
remember waking up to go to school and the diana news story being all over the tv.
9/11 I was waiting to start uni, sat at home talking to people on the internet and then watching it on my tv, then on sky. I remember the holy shit moment as the first tower collapsed, still gives my shivers.
