Why not? It's a humungous universe and it's extremely arrogant to think we are the only sentient life in existence.

Why arrogant? The existance of any life is a bizarre occurrence. There have been five major mass extinctions which have wiped out the majority of life on the planet each time, we're lucky anything is still alive now!
