The technology is pushed at us at an alarming rate, and it comes with flaws.
Take DAB radio - more stations, but poorer quality sound than FM, and comes with an inbuilt delay so that the 'pips' are wrong. It also consumes way more power than a non DAB radio. Technological marvel is that !

And don't get me started on computer programmes and their updates and patches to correct flaws

They do that on purpose. For example, bringing out a new DAB radio, which better sound quality; so people buy that as well.

Gone are the days when the latest techonology is made available. It is always delayed and flawed, they then bring out better models all the time.

It is unavoid at times because we need/want a new product.

If one waited for the price of pc to be reduced, they will be waiting forever because by the time they waited a new technology will be available, does one wait again for that to be dropped too.

they aren't so much as priced high, as they are expensive to develop. Hundreds of millions might go into R&D, hich needs to be funded somehow.

As products age, volume increases, production becomes easier, patents expire, and things become cheaper and easier to produce.

anyway, I can't see this catching on, poeple prefer to have something solid to control, in the same way as voice recognition for your PC never really caught on.

Its also simple economics, some people will always pay a higher price to be the first, therefore you cover this market first, till sales start to drop then you lower the price, its not rocket science - all products do it!

Voice recognition for the pc didn't catch on, because regardless of what people say it is still no where near good enough.

I have a vague recollection of writing a computer programme at primary school, but it was never released - too many mistakes ;P

Cheeky bu***r ! Just wait till I see you.

Actually, I don't even think we had a computer at the school. We had to write the programme - literally write it on paper - and it got taken away and input somewhere to see if it worked !

And does it even fulfill a need?? I know I've lost count of the times when i want to talk to my computer ;)

This hand gesture tv is another rubbish idea that isn't solving a problem.

VR did not work
i) because it was not a solution to a problem, there was no problem just technology being technology

ii) it took longer to complete a document, as it could not spell certain words, it sometimes could not recognise words even though it did yesterday. If you were unwell, it would be unable to recognise your voice - this is probably they only there would be need for VR and it did not work.

You have you spend so long correcting its mistakes, that it would 2/3 times longer then if you typed it yourself.
