To celebrate my new found fitness, and to raise some money for charity, I am embarking on a night time climb in the Brecon Beacons in Wales on the first weekend in September. We start the climb at midnight, and hope to see the sun rise from the summit after a four or five hour climb.
It's just over a year since Mansized and you lot gave me the incentive to lose fat and get fit.
Tros Gynnal is the leading children's rights and advocacy charity in Wales. It was set up to take over the work of The Children's Society when it withdrew from working in Wales in 2002

This weekend folks - please give generously - you haven't so far ;-(
I'm heading out for a three hour hike this evening (in the pouring rain) by way of warm up, after this morning's 'legs' session in the gym. There are a nice 120 steps up from the seafront that I will climb a few times.
How did your warm up go on Monday night? Have you got much more training to squeeze in before the weekend or are you taking it easy now until the event?
Hatter, Monday's (and Tuesday's and Wednesday's) warm ups were cancelled due to inclement weather. I do a lot of walking anyway, so I am not really worried about the climb anyway. Just the cold , the dark and the rain !
You might have noticed that there has been a bit of rain this past couple of days, especially in Wales, and it was no real surprise when I had a call at lunchtime from the the charity to say that the walk has been postponed due to severeweather warnings for the area !
Still, that leaves lots more time for you to sponsor me - links at the top of the thread.
Sorry to hear the trek has been postponed but with the weather just recently it is just as well! I was in Bath last weekend and took my grandmother to Dyrham Park (National Trust) and nearly got sunburnt it was so warm and sunny. Amazing the difference in one week. Good luck for whenever the walk takes place...
