Anyone else particularly delighted that Elbow won the Mercury Prize?
I've been trying to champion Elbow since way back in 2003 when I recieved a copy of their second album, Cast of Thousands. Lyrically they're beyond parallel when confronted with all these other modern bands. Just about every track has some incredible lyrics with some fantastic imagery.
I can give them a bit of a thank you for shaping my career in fact. I won the aforementioned album after one of my first gaming reviews was selected as one of the weekly winners at the BBC Collective website. Think that was the real kick up the bottom that told me to take what had been an irregular hobby and turn it into something much more.

Yeah, fantastic album. Powder Blue has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever created.

I got the first album free when I worked in a record shop. Local lads and have seen them at small venues once or twice. I'm not really into the music because it's a bit too indie, but my mate has been into them since we first got that album.
