With my missus, we are looking to buy a wii for 6-year-old daughter for xmas (I know, I know it is too early but better safe than sorry!). So trusted mansizers...any wii games you can recommend for her age?

The best deal I could only find at the moment is Amazon where they give you a free FIFA09 which is not exactly a great deal.

Tough one. But the Wii is probably the console to go for at such an age.

The included Wii Sports should be a good start as it's nice and simplistic and a nice first step on the Wii learning curve.

There's tonnes available on the Wii for every age group. There's a lot of titles based on things the younger gamer would identify with. Hannah Montant, Nicktoons, Totally Spies, High School Musical etc...

Might be worth going for something the whole family can enjoy for starters? Things like Sports Party and Big Beach Sports which contain tonnes of mini sporting titles a la Wii Sports.

After than, maybe move onto simple titles like LEGO Indiana Jones, Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, and Mario Kart.

Last week saw Samba De Amigo finall get a next gen release that may be worth a look. You use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk as maracas to shake as the screen shows you. You can even purchase cheap maraca shaped peripherals to make the whole thing a little more real. Not had the chance to try it out for myself thus far though so cant comment on just how impressive it might be.

The 'best' games to go for are the likes of Super Mario Galaxy and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Although the latter in particular might be one for a few years time yet.

Wii Sports - the best safe bet option, it is a game for everyone from beginners to experts. Sports Party and Big Beach Sports are good choices too, as mentioned by Chris. For a game only for her, Samba de Amigo is a must for anyone with a child under 12. She would probably like Carnival Funfair Games too and it is only £15.

To start with I think Wii Sports with one of the games above is all you would need. You do not want to get similar games because it will get boring.

Mario-Kart would be a great game, as it can be something you would enjoy yourself. There are so many games in the Mario range, that you would like and suited for all ages and abilities.

If you a gamer, http://www.game.co.uk/Wii/Hardware/HardwareBundle/~r337265/Wii-Console-with-Star-Wars-Force-Unleashed-Carnival-Funfair-Games-Mario-Sonic-at-the-Olympics/ looks like a good package.

Do you rent dvd's? If so, you could rent a a few of the games to see what everyone in the family likes. There some titles that are boring when playing the second time.

I was in Currys a few days a go and they had a lot of games for £10. They seemed to be games like Wii Sports and I did not recognise any of the titles. Worth checking out and maybe someone on here as more information on them.

Looking to get a Wii myself and it helps two of my cousins have the console. One was staying over with us for about 5 weeks (parents on holiday) and he brought his Wii too. Although I am looking to get one in January, might get a large package if brother and or sister want something for the console too.

Best bet for a bundle package is to note down a list of games/accessories that you need and simply ask in all your local stores that sell the Wii. Most should be willing to do some fiddling around with their current bundle packages in order to include what you need.

Though from personal experience GAME refuse to change anything. So your best bets are probably HMV, and Zavvi.

cool thanks guys!

Sorry I should have mentioned in previous post - she is clever for her age plus she has played Wii several times (her dad has wii) and I myself have my own wii but her mother (my missus) and she lives in Cardiff. She does does love Wii Sports (and very good at it!) and I did notice that High School Musical 3 Wii game is coming out in Nov so might get that one.

ChrisP - very good advice re bundle list!

Thanks again - any more suggestions re "kid" games, let me know.

GameStation have good bundle options, where you can choose the number of games you want and what games too.

clicky .The selected game options are crap, although the any game options is £10-£20 more in price.

Have a look instore too, some have bundles/prices that are not available online and you alter bundles or agree a price for a custom-package. Electronic Boutique were open to suggestions, not sure since it has changed to GAME. If you have a CEX nearby, they would do something for you too. Not sure about Gamestation.

If you are looking to get a discount on price, then go to Currys, Comet etc. Look at the options online and then go to your local store, if the bundle you liked is £250, take £220 with you. Let the sales rep talk you through the options and say you like the £250 bundles because it comes with Wii sports and 3 others games and you would want to buy it now, but you only have £220 (show them the money) and that is the bundle you want.
That £30 saving can pay for a second controller.
