Hi,
I've got an injury in my right shoulder which has dragged on for over a month now. I only feel the pain when I do a military press or mimick one without weights. If I do a heavy flat bench press I don't feel pain during the movement, but later on in the evening my right upper arm hurts and the shoulder plays up. Pulling movements/back exercises don't cause any problem, and I don't notice any problems from press ups.
I told the doctor, who said to rest and take pain killers till it goes. He told me only to exercise my lower body in the meantime.
But if there is an upper body exercise that doesn't cause pain such as chin-ups, dumbell rows, and even press ups, should i really abandon all upper body movements.
Also, as far as lower body movements go, should I carry on with front squats, squats, deadlifts and barbell lunges?
Please advise!
Cheers
Shaz
Does a shoulder press or lateral raise cause problems too?
If so, it sounds like a similar issue I have.
I too was advised to take ibuprofen for 3 weeks.
I went back as it didnt make any difference. The rest I did, was not do the exercises which felt uncomfortable (shoulder press, lateral raise). I did others though. I have finally been referred for physio, I will let you know what happens if its any interest. I fear I will be told to stop upper body exercises completely. I would cry!!
