I don't have kids so this doesn't affect me. If I did, and someone invited me and said no kids, not sure what I would do. Depends how easy babysitter was to hire. I don't think I'd be offended, I can understand the sentiment.
In this specific example, the couple whose kid was crying, were they just friends of the bride/groom? Did they not have a say in the matter?
