Tough one. But the Wii is probably the console to go for at such an age.

The included Wii Sports should be a good start as it's nice and simplistic and a nice first step on the Wii learning curve.

There's tonnes available on the Wii for every age group. There's a lot of titles based on things the younger gamer would identify with. Hannah Montant, Nicktoons, Totally Spies, High School Musical etc...

Might be worth going for something the whole family can enjoy for starters? Things like Sports Party and Big Beach Sports which contain tonnes of mini sporting titles a la Wii Sports.

After than, maybe move onto simple titles like LEGO Indiana Jones, Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, and Mario Kart.

Last week saw Samba De Amigo finall get a next gen release that may be worth a look. You use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk as maracas to shake as the screen shows you. You can even purchase cheap maraca shaped peripherals to make the whole thing a little more real. Not had the chance to try it out for myself thus far though so cant comment on just how impressive it might be.

The 'best' games to go for are the likes of Super Mario Galaxy and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Although the latter in particular might be one for a few years time yet.
