Isn't it called iTunes? Where you can listen to the song for a bit before you buy?

I'm talking about TV shows.

Well, for what it's worth, here's my opinion:

About time too - why should artists lose out to people stealing their work. There are now legal ways to download - it's called paying for it, just like you would when entering a shop and leaving with goods - it's not rocket science, you pay for it fair and square, otherwise it is known as shoplifting.

So for all you peeps out there that just keep on stealing, pilfering and taking without paying - your days are numbered!!!!!!

And for those of you who 'own' the vinyl recording and download the mp3 to play on you i-pod - go buy yourself the appropriate software and convert your vinyl to mp3 for your own personal entertainment.

Nobody is stopping downloading - just taking away the illegal aspect to it. I am still cynical about how effective this will be, but it is a step in the right direction to reduce the opportunity for theft.

What if there were no means possible to get a certain item? Couldn't buy it legitimately, anywhere?. Would you still deem it unacceptable even if the person wants to pay for it?

Let me turn that one around. If you eventually did track it down, and downloaded it for free, but really did want to pay for it, would you actively seek out the owner and tender payment - or would you take it and stay quiet, smug in the fact that you found a very rare recording and weren't charged for it?????????

Well that would depend on how easy it is to track down the person who "owns" the item. Otherwise i would be smug at having found a rare recording (or whatever) but I certainly wouldn't think i'd be chuffed at the prospect that I got it for free. Usually anything worth getting, especially if it's hard to get in the first place would usually mean you would have at some point considered paying a considerable amount relative to paying something that was easier to get your hands on.

About your vinyl to mp3 statement as a "proper" way of getting it onto an mp3 player. Is that better or more legit than downloading mp3 files to an mp3 player. In the end, your not paying for files, and and your music is still ending up as a usable mp3 format. Likewise, if you use the net to download episodes that you missed, what difference would it be to doing that and just catching a repeat. Repeats aren't a gurantee nor can you guarantee that the scheduled time is practical. It's not like everyone flogs their downloaded High Definition tv/movies on ebay for a price.

stealing my arse! They should charge reasonable prized for music/films/cinema prices.

How a DVD can cost me £19.00 is beyond me. Make them more affordable, say £4 a dvd. That way people would buy them.

I remember some anti-piracy ad, it said "You wouldn't steal a car", and somebody had defaced it with, "I would if I could download one".

If it's too expensive don't buy the bl**dy thing and then they will have to lower the prices - steal it and they bump the prices up even more to recoup their losses - doh!

I agree, these things are way over priced. I just don't bother with DVDs anymore - I watch movies when they come on Sky movies and if I really like a movie I'll wait until Play dot com has a £5.00 sale on and buy it at the cheap price.

What is it with peeps these days that they must have the latest film to own as soon as the offcuts have been swept off the cutting room floor? Seriously how many times do you replay the movie to warrant paying £19.00 for the DVD???

Spring is in the air - get out and enjoy it instead of holing yourself up indoors in front of the TV - unless you are into movies about naked men and their love affair with patio tables - yewwww!!

That makes very little sense. You say if you don't buy it they will lower the price, but if you steal it the price will increase. In both cases, dvd's aren't moving off shelves, there is nothing different between them, so how does it influence the price both up and down at the same time?
