I have noticed people using different handgrips for deadlifts - most people hold the bar overhan, but I have noticed a few people holding it with one hand using an underhand grip, and the other overhand. Is there any reason for this? And would it produce any inbalance by doing so?
I alternate as my grip gives out before my other muscle do. So when I do deadlifts I do first set both overhand, then left underhand right overhand for a set and vice versa for the third. It won't produce any inbalances as you are still working the muscles out just as much, and means you can get your set done before your grip gives out.
I was wondering that myself - at the moment doing overhand grip, but have noticed in the youtube videos that a lot of them have one hand over one hand undergrip. I'm not lifting enough at the moment for grip failure to be an issue :P
Can getting weighed after a workout be inaccurate looking for weight loss? Would you put on weight in the gym with swollen muscles etc.
I normally get weighed after work on a Friday. When i was doing this, Friday wasn't a 'gym day'. I'm going to the gym tonight and getting weighed after it. Will this be accurate since i was weighed last Friday without going to the gym?

An alternate grip is just a stronger grip than an overhand or underhand. It's fine to use, but as loki said, it's a good idea to alternate your hands each set, or each workout if you do 1 set per workout to avoid problems.
Similarly if you do an odd number of sets, alternate the grip you use for the first one at each workout, that kind of thing.
Overhand grip is fine too, but I'd avoid using an exclusively underhand grip as it's notorious for tearing biceps! Lovely.

It can do, yeah, You'll lose a certain amount of weight through water loss, and although it can be useful to weigh yourself after your workouts to know how much fluid to replace, in terms of weight loss in general it can give you the wrong idea.
More and more gym scales are also coming equipt with fat measuring devices too like the Tanita scales. If they do, avoid taking a bodyfat reading, or ignore it if it can't be avoided. They're innacurate at the best of times, but this will be even more missleading than your weight!
Is it possible to get to much rest? Apart from the gym, I'm pretty lazy, I sit down all week 9-5, go home & relax, pretty much a similar routine on a weekend too, lots of sitting in the pub & lounging around Should I become more active?
Cheers :)
ETA: I'm not botherd about any extra calories being burned, I'm losing weight nicely, just wanted to know if there was any benefit or if I was harming my progress in any way
Would you advise getting weighed on a different day?
Provided you're consistant and weigh yourself at the same time on the same day of the week, you'll get fairly consistant results.
As mentioned, for best results, jump on the scales first thing in the morning before breakfast, after you've visited the throne room.
Once per week or wonce per fortnight is enough to know you're on the right track.

Not so much, but it's good to be active in general. 30 minutes of light activity per day is enough to keep fit and healthy and can also improve your fat loss if you emphasise keeping it light. So a half hour stroll, particularly in the evening, is a good way to keep your metabolism firing on all cylinders without impeding on your fat loss.
My abdominal skinfold is still 25mm which is the same as 3 weeks ago even though I've lost 6 lbs & an inch & half from my waist. Tape & skinfold measurements have also come down in other areas but the abdominal skinfold is proving stubborn.
I'm pretty stumped, do you have any ideas?
The love handles seem to have all but dissapeared, will the last of my gut be next?

Cheers mate :)
Looking forward to the answer on this one... that little friendly bit of fat right on the gut front is annoying.
