Hi Anthony,

My abdominal skinfold is still 25mm which is the same as 3 weeks ago even though I've lost 6 lbs & an inch & half from my waist. Tape & skinfold measurements have also come down in other areas but the abdominal skinfold is proving stubborn.

I'm pretty stumped, do you have any ideas?

The love handles seem to have all but dissapeared, will the last of my gut be next?

Cheers mate :)

Yep, you've answered your own question there! You're losing fat from elsewhere, and eventually, it will be all that's left.

But if it makes you feel better, you're no different to other men. Most men store most of their fat there, which is why you can find in more overweight subjects that the most telling fat loss is actually in the behind picture rather than the front, which shows fat loss on the lower back and love handles.

Keep it up!

Hi Anthony,

Whats your view on loose skin?
Specifically around the stomach, upper thighs and upper arms?
I dont have a specific problem as yet, but suspect I might do longer term.
Does it depend on age/genetics or is it just tough luck and you have to go under the knife?

Thanks

How much lose skin people are left with can depend on alot of things. The amount of extra chub they're carrying, and if they've let them selves be obese for a long time, the skin will have lost alot of it's elasticity for example.

It is largely genetic though. Some people can lose an awful lot of weight and their skin will tighten up nicely. Other people get left with a nice chunk of excess and will have to go under the knife to get rid of it.

It's going to be a case of cross that bridge when you come to it!

Thanks Anthony.
I was something I was going to leave and tackle it (if possible) when the time comes.
I was just curious on your opinion.
Thanks again.

Not thought of massaging in some moisturiser? Get the skin more supple and therefore mitigate against the effects?

Problem with that is, because the skin issue is a genetic one, the results would just be a case of cum hoc ergo propter hoc.

Be careful of any conclusions you draw from these kinds of experiments!

Is it really genetic or is it a combination of factors which can be countered with some manipulation and moisturisation?

Surely all those women who have tried it whilst pregnant could throw some light on it?
