looks like you are still seeing some fine progress there Ben even though you wanted to stop the routines after MM08. Shows that it really isnt neccessary to change as often as people think (including me as I do it far too often).
At the start of this challenge my original goals were:
- add some bulk (be good to get to 12.5 stone now, as am hovering around the 12 stone mark)
Weight today, after workout (when I always weight myself, wearing nowt but a towel, as the scales are there) is just the same as at the start, at 80kgs. However, I know it has been higher than this, especially after the wedding that I went to a couple of weeks ago, so no gain here.
- be consistent in my gym going (three good sessions a week)
Bit of a mixed bag here, as I was consistent, during weeks 1 to 3, and then 4 to 5 fell by the wayside, as I was all over the country going to interviews, so it was really hard for me to find the time.
This last week, however, has been back on track, and I feel all the better for it.
I have also now well and truly cured my free-weights area phobia, and have the confidence to wade in with the big boys when I go, and not worry about what weights I am lifting, or who is watching me (unless of course, it is a fittie! haha)
- sort my damn diet out (eat decent stuff, and cut down on the naughty but nice chocs/crips/cake, etc)
Still more work needed here - and willpower on this one is my Achilles heel :( - as with the training, weeks 4 and 5 were all over the place. I was eating shite sandwiches on trains, and even went to the pub (solo - wtf?!) and then McDonald's after one tough one!
I then had two really big booze weekends (that hurt my waistline and wallet) when I went to the Northern Drinkies, and then a wedding. Apart from these two weekends, I have been pretty much off the booze.
The last week, after Phonix and Barcode's chastising of my chocoholic ways, I have ditched the choc at work, and been much more controlled in my eating. Not to the calorie counting level, but the junk has been much reduced, with only a picnic bar, a piece of Pret cake and a choc muffin being the real baddies on the food list this week.
In summary, at the half way stage, I feel that I am probably at about a grade C, or maybe a B minus if someone were to be really generous. The weights are going up, and the effort is increasing, BUT it isn't completely consistent behaviour.
the first and last goal are joined really. You haven't added the bulk, because you haven't sorted the diet. I know you are starting to remove the junk, and don't want to count cals but what is a typical diet looking like. If you weigh the same, you need to add a few hundred clean cals to it.

Yeah, I know! I know! Will put some focus on to the eating more and clean now!

Ben you are in a good position with the BF% being obviously low. You only need to sort the diet and you will be the hottest gay in the village.
You said I was a fatso only the other day, as we estimate my bf% is now in the mid teens :-/
Am off to the ski slope in the morning, so that will burn off some calories, and work my abs n legs!
Your problem isn't a lack of effort, but consistency - you go for a few really good sessions, then stop going gym. You keep away from chocolate, then pig out. You need to make this a long term thing ben!
Just think about looking good for cornwall :)
Are those fulll bodyweight chinups? And are lateral raises with dumbells?

Yes, I well impressed myself today :-D

Yep, they were this week, instead of using the cable thingy
I'm impressed with both then! I am doing rear shoulder raises at the mo, but I doubt I could do anywhere near that many lateral raises with that weight, and you are going to beat me on the chins soon :(

Cheers - I actually thought I was being a total weakling on the cable lat raises, but there was a guy with huge shoulders there today, and he was struggling to lift 15kgs with them. It made me feel better :)
