Scotland is one of the best places in Britain to raise a family, with three areas north of the border rated highly for quality of schools, low crime and affordable homes, according to a survey published yesterday. Ever lived north of the border?

Yep, spent 21 years in Fife and then 3 in Edinburgh.... but then again I am scottish.

Never lived there, but been there a few times. There are good and bad area's the same as most countries. Very nice place to visit though.

It surprises me the amount of people that like the Scottish accent, I say this not because I am Scottish, but until recently I was not that keen on it, esp when you heard the local Glasgow council estate neds on the tv!

it's only certain Scottish accents that do it for me though.

that rough sounding bird on the Apprentice at the moment is a big no-no but a girl I went to University with (from Edinburgh) now that was gorgeous

apparently the scottish accent is popular for call centres, although you wouldn't think it as they seem to be the other side of the world most of the time.

some shit survey said the scottish accent is warm, friendly and approachable or some thing like that. imagine phoning rab c nesbitt for help installing your washing machine!
