Ever lived north of the border?

Yes... we lived in Dumfries when I was little for a couple of years - I have very few memories of it though and they are muddled up with subsequent visits.

are you sure it say best place to raise a family,
surely it should've said best place to get totally pissed whilst wearing a celtic or rangers shirt, and act a complete twat,
like the morons i encountered on holiday at the haven campsite in ayr last august.
sorry to any scots i know this is generalising but it had to be said, lol
but on the other side of the coin, i spent a fantastic week up at kyle of lochalsh and fort william a couple of years ago, lovely scenery and lovely people

There are a lot of scottish accents on television, I think. Particularly in advertisments - as if the Scots are persuasive and trustworthy.

is that sarcasm?

I think the Scottish accent does work, obviously if it's a polite, subtle one like Edinburgh and not the trash wedgies speak :)

if we're slagging off accents though, the scouser has got to be the most offensive to the ears by far
