Yes and no. It all depends on the situation, if they can keep thr tradition of a football club, while making financial success then it is a good thing. Losing a clubs tradition, is like losing an identity, which makes them like franchise, e.g. MK Dons. Wimbledon had the the crazy gang tradition, which is now lost. Some American sport teams change location; hence, the term franchise, it means the team lacks a history or tradition.
The situation at Man Utd is half-way, they have put the club in debt with a high repayment loan but they generate a lot of money to buy players, e.g. 17m pounds for Carrick
