Yes, in terms of getting access to the 'net, but no if you believe the Independent on Sunday this week, as everyone's brains are going to get fried by all the wi-fi flying around us!

They mentioned that in yesterday's Telegraph, there was great concern from one of the teahers association about WiFi. There also thought that it would affect the brain.

We'd be fooked here - there are 4 computers hooked up to our wi-fi, but practically every house on our street has a wi-fi network, as they are all unprotected, except for ours, and the majority are named after the house number, or name!

I think it is unproven. For example, first they said using a mobile is bad, then it was proven it was safe. McD's serve crap, but if you eat from there, does not mean you will die at an early age.
All the short term studies on things like phones etc have shown no real risk of cancer or obvious symptoms. But there may well be long term (i.e. 10 year) effects that are more subtle, like depressed immune systems or headaches, insomnia, that will not be easy to trace to the cause. It's impossible to tell for now. There is a lot of scaremongering about wi fi and mobile phones, most of which is prob unwarranted.
Having said that, prob better to be safe than sorry and avoid having these things on all the time where you spend a majority of time. But i guess people in the city won't have a choice in the matter.
